Class of 2009 Mission Statement
(an email/summary by Class President Emerson Lake)
10/15/2006
This email is in summary of what was discussed during the first half of our Friday class meeting. As your representatives we saw a need to develop a class mission statement with the purpose of identifying and describing our aims, values, and overall direction of our class of 2009. A good mission statement is often concise, meaningful, and easy to remember. With that in mind our direction is summarized in three words: Achieve, Respect, and Trust.
Achieve: We seek to achieve academic excellence as well as personal excellence. We recognize that we cannot achieve personal excellence without giving of ourselves through service to both the community and to each other.
Respect: In our pursuit to become professionals here at Dugoni we recognize that respect for each other, faculty, and ourselves is paramount. Respect embodies integrity, honesty, and responsibility.
Trust: You cannot trust who you do not know. Accepting the challenge of Dr. Dugoni, we each strive to know our entire class not only by name but also by character. Let us be known as the class of friends. Trust is a must.
The acronym for our mission statement is ART. Whether it is a reminder of the great Arthur A. Dugoni or if personal development is recognized as an ART form. The important idea is that we remember what the ART represents which is a commitment to friendship and excellence as a class. At the heart of our profession is serving the needs of others so let us prepare by serving each other.
Sincerely,
Emerson Lake
